Aithne's Old Roads Omnibus and my Christmas Kindle has inspired me to channel my inner librarian (hopefully to become an outer librarian in the next few years!) and start up our own library of e-books.

So. This is how this will work.

Email us (peopleofthedas@gmail.com) with your e-book cover and an e-reader copy of your completed fic (.mobi or epub or both if you have them) and I will compile them and put them up on a new mediafire account for general download. Then I'll make a master post here with pretty pictures of all your covers and a link to the books for people to download!

I'd like for this to be completed fics only, if that's ok, simply because I'd have to take down each file and put it back up again each time a fic is updated. On the library master post I will put:

A Book Cover: that you make, which should include Title, Author etc. If you have (like me) made book covers out of commissioned or gifted fanart, make sure you credit the artist as well. ON THAT NOTE, make sure you have PERMISSION from the artist to use ANY artwork as a cover, if it isn't your own.
A Blurb: Short abstract or extract from the story so people have some idea of what it is about.
Your contact details: (should you want them, tumblr, ff.net, dreamwidth journal or your email, or all of them) so that people can contact you and leave reviews)
A link: to the mediafire download.

ALTERNATIVELY: You can just provide me with a cover and a link to your Archive of Our Own version of the completed fic, and people can simply download their own version from that site! However, some people don't use/haven't been invited to/don't want their stuff up on Archive of Our Own, which is why I'm offering the other option.

Depending on how many fics we get I'll organise them by author/genre etc (obviously I won't have to do that until we have more than one or two!)

If you're having trouble converting to e-reader format, you can ask me to do it (best way to do that is to have it posted on AO3, since I can just click the download button and work from there with my version of calibre).

A few things:

NATURALLY all work that you submit belongs to you and you alone. I will not alter any files I have been given before I put them onsite, unless you have given me express permission to convert files you give me to e-book format.

If at any stage you wish your work to be taken down, simply inform me and I will do so immediately.

If you prefer, you can host the book on your own file share site and simply give me the link. It'll be up to you to make sure you have all the versions necessary and maintain the website that is hosting it.

OH EDITED TO ADD: If you email us your fic, please put a comment here telling me. I'll check the email once a day any way, but just in case my brain fails it would be good to have another reminder :D.

So I was playing a meme game on deviantART (link to meme post here) in which the player blindly writes down 12 DA character names, numbered 1 through 12, and then has to plug those names into a series of pairing questions (at which the player can look ONLY AFTER writing down the names --no fair going back and changing them!). So for example, one of the questions was "Would #2 and #6 make a good couple?" And my #2 and #6 were Isabela and Cauthrien, so my answer was "One badass couple indeed." Etc. But there were two other pairings that really sparked the interest of both myself and the OP of this meme, except we have too much on our plates and are n00bs at slash/crack so we humbly request you, the People of Thedas, to assist us in answering these two burning questions:

A. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted #4 (Alistair) to deflower #1 (Cullen)?

B. Would #11 (Zevran) shag #9 (Anora)? Drunk or sober?

Please help us. Actually, neither the meme OP nor I can believe that there isn't already Alistair/Cullen slash out there, but if there is, it isn't tagged properly, because I can't find it. Cookies and blessings and whatever we can reciprocate if you can right this wrong, and/or think of something appropriately delicious for Zev/Anora.

And oh yeah, feel free to tackle Cauthrien/Isabela too --if you dare. :)

Hiya all.

I'd like to recommend a really good fic I found. When people set an alert or favourite for my stories on FF I like to go for a nosy around, see what kind of people I've attracted and what else they like. I found this on someone's favourite list and it's a lovely, lovely DA2 fic. And has the advantage of being Hawke/Varric, which makes a nice change.

With the release of DA2, the Dragon Age Kink Meme on LJ has exploded. At time of writing, the two DA2 threads have almost 7,000 comments. Even more than Origins, DA2 is made for fanworks, and especially for writers; the time skips create spaces in the narrative that are begging to be filled.

Get your minds out of the gutter, you pervs. You're blocking my periscope.

A few kmeme fills have caught my eye. This is by no means a comprehensive list, and aside from my preference for Team Fenris, there's no real theme to them.

I would also like to ask if there are any communities devoted to Dragon Age fic prompts? Or if any of you have some prompts you'd like to see at least given a schoolyard try? I will do anything except write Anders romance as a healthy relationship! Hah, sorry. Bit bitter still. I am trying to get back into the swing of writing and I loved this game so much that I've been kind of looking for excuses to obsess over it as much as I have been. But I am unfortunately bad at coming up with ideas for fan-type things.

I thought that recently I saw a fic with a title to the effect of "## days in Someplace" (like, "30 Days in Highever" or "90 Days in Denerim" or something like that.)

But I can't find it now, and I'm not even sure it exists. It's possible I saw it in another fandom, but I just want to make certain.

Does anyone recall seeing anything like this recently?

EDIT: I still can't find the thing, despite having searched everywhere I can imagine I might have seen it. If anyone comes across it, please let me know, because I have a new mini-series I'm posting called "Sixty Days in Jader" and I don't want to be accused of copping someone else's title.

Hiya, I read quite a few fanfics, but I'd like to recommend this one to you all, while it's still fairly new (Chapter 3). I dunno about you lot, but I find it less intimidating than being offered something that is already 40 chapters or more.

I don't have a decent author's summary to offer you, as I can't find one. The fic is about Zevran's training from the age of about fifteen (a subject of interest to lots of us, I suspect) and so far it's looking like mightily good stuff.

For all those Varel and Nathaniel fans out there, I am giving mad kudos to CCbug and lisakodysam's collaboration fic, Nobility Has Another Meaning.

Not only does it explore Varel's background and Nathaniel's childhood twenty years before the Fifth Blight, it also delves into the past of Arl Rendon Howe's wife, the arlessa of Amaranthine, who is already portrayed in the first chapter as a strong woman who is not a stereotypical woman warrior, as per the usual you find in a fantasy setting. This is a character we hardly see in the game or in fanfiction, and I think you will all find her very interesting indeed.

It is extremely well written, one of the true gems of FF.net, and sets up excellent tension and shows glimpses of very intriguing premises right there in the first chapter.

Here's a little tutorial on how we're going to handle fic and art requests and recommendations. By 'requests,' I don't mean requests for commissions or things of that nature. I mean a request for fanfiction or art recommendations from the rest of the community. A recommendation is what it sounds like: if you like a fic or a piece of art, recommend it to the community. Not only will this give us a lot of great fics to read and art to view, but it will also help promote the Dragon Age fandom in general.

Here is an example of a request:

Does anyone know of any good multi-chaptered M/MA/NC-17-rated fanfiction with an Alistair/f!Mahariel pairing? Other pairings are welcome as long as this is the main one. Drama is good but I prefer humor to be peppered in, as I think that this makes stories seem more realistic.

By the way, I would be more than happy to have that request fulfilled!
