BSN topic, "Steam yanks Dragon Age 2?"

It appears that the fact that you can purchase the Legacy DLC through the game itself violates Steam's newly-rewritten terms of service, so EA has pulled the game - or Valve dropped it, I can't tell, and neither Valve or EA is speaking up.

Owners of the Steam version of the game (like myself) can still purchase and install Legacy, just follow the directions on the BioWare site for the game content you have. The game will still run as normal, as far as I can tell - I played Legacy fine the day it launched, though I did not attempt to play DA2 yesterday nor today.

I, for one, am upset about this - I purchased my game from Steam to make it easier on myself (and to have less CDs in this house for my almost-two-year-old to throw around) and now I get to live in fear of needing to reinstall the game. Yay.

EDIT: EA has explained their side.

EA's David DeMartini:
Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content. No other download service has adopted this practice. Consequently some of our games have been removed by Steam.

We hope to work out an agreement to keep our games on Steam.

An epic battle in the Frostback Mountains challenges the Warden and her party. Who will be left standing?

AN: This piece features my elven mage, Celwyn, who just happens to be one of my favorite playthroughs. My heartfelt thanks to [personal profile] 1smut_princess for her encouragement and her beta reading. I can do grammar, but the creative stuff is another thing entirely. I actually started this piece when I was taking a break during the battle with "Andraste" and finally finished it sometime last night. Constructive criticism is welcomed with open arms.

Dragonmod here!

I'm not dead! Expect a bit of maintenance happening behind the scenes, as well as a post I've been meaning to get live for a while coming soon.

For the record, we're no longer considering DLC spoilerrific, especially now that we're in the dry spell between DLCs and the new DA game.

Thanks darlings!
