Time to meta game so I can have an ending where I didn't have to kill Fenris. I know it's cheating, but I can't take it!

UPDATE: I meta-gamed. But it's not cheating too much, because all I had to do was change two reactions in the Merrill (fuck her) quest.

Dude, FUCK. FENRIS. Okay? Because I didn't have him at 100% rivalry, so when I fucking begged him to stay by my side, here's what happened:

f!Hawke: "I suppose it's too much to hope to die by your side."
Fenris: "Yes. Yes, it is."

God, I feel like I need ice cream and sappy movies. This is ridiculous!

Did you romance him? I got him to 100% pretty easily with both friend and rivalmance, though I did have to fudge a little and use the console for the last 5 points on my second Julian playthrough.

That...did NOT happen to me. He was so far in wishy-washy land for my first run and I still talked him back over. D8 Then again, somehow Sebastian proposed to me while I was living Anders on one playthrough, so I think I have a few bugs somewhere.

I had to kill Fenris on my first playthrough too. D: Wasn't romancing him though, so it probably wasn't as traumatic. But Mina was still heartbroken.

It does destroy the will to live :(

The first round of DA 2 I did was wishy- washy with Fenris..But by the time he showed up my PC was so..traumatised and running on immediate survival concerns, it was more, cut down anyone trying to kill yourself and your comrades and breakdown later. It did give a great deal of impulse to doing another round of DA:O, if only to get a ending that wasn't so.. 'rocks fall, everybody dies'

I only lost Isabela my first playthrough, but that's because I was playing a dual-wield rogue and it seemed ridiculous to take her places and build up her friendship if, you know, I was one too.

I had full friendship with Anders and Fenris, but maxed rivalry with Merrill because fuck you, you're not building that mirror.

My second playthrough I murderknifed Anders.

I seriously sat there and cried. And then told my husband what I did. And cried some more.

I followed Merrill's quest because I was curious and wanted XP, even though Caerwyn and my other Dalish PC were horrified half the time. Man, I was traumatized when I had to kill the clan. I think a little part of me died.

Yeah, I killed the entire clan my first playthrough too, and I was sitting there going BUT I TOLD THE TRUTH, I TOLD THE TRUUUUUTH

I executed Anders once just to see what it would look like. I cried so hard I actually had to go back to a previous save and spare him.

But, of course it was the playthrough where I rivalmanced him and sided with the Templars, so I had to kill him later anyway (and the little part about how he said he *used to* loved me was like a knife in the heart)

I agree with a comment a game: we can't beat this game, it beats us. Fenris fought against me too, though at least I wasn't in a romance with him. =(

And I'm coming to the end of my second playthrough which has been set up so that I'll side (albeit reluctantly) with the Templars and I just don't know if I can make myself do it! Gaaaaaaahhh!!!!!

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to find a way where I can meta game a bit and get Fenris to side with me without choosing the Templars in the end. I'm so close. I think if I redo one quest arc (Goddamnit, Merrill!) and try to give him the Sword of Mercy, I might be able to do it. We'll see!

I don't think I'll have to replay all of Act III, but at least a significant portion of it, so I can get full rivalry and he'll stay with me.

I felt so strange that Cullen of all people was the voice of reason in the end. I wanted to kiss the mage-hating bastard for fighting with us. I knew there was a reason he was so pretty ;D
