This Is My Introduction Post

Hi. Um. I'm new.

I started playing Dragon Age: Origins about three weeks ago, tore through my first origin, became completely obsessed, and earlier this week started my second origin. Prior to this I've had basically zero experience with RPGs in this style, since the only video games I played were from The Sims series (no regrets, seriously). At this point I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep playing Origins, plus Awakening and eventually DAII. Although, uh, probably not five days a week for 4-5 hours at a time. :O

In between playing, I posted a bunch about the game here on my DW and here on my Tumblr. Since I have the benefit of thousands of people having already played the game before me and written all their thoughts, I'd be super interested in recs for meta of any kind, especially about the political structure of the game and the various moral dilemmas it introduces. There are so many posts in this comm I may never make it through them all.

Mods, if I tagged wrong or did anything else wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it.

*waves* Hello everyone. I've just joined up and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a big fan of Dragon Age (and Bioware rpgs in general), especially the elven companions Zev and Fenris. Every once in a while I'll get bit by the icon bug and go on a bit of a tear. I've got hundreds of DA icons up on my iconing journal

iconsugar if y'all would like to grab a few. Most of them are for DA2, but I've got a few DA:O batches as well (I still have to finish that mega-Zev batch I've been working on for ages).

I'm pretty shy so I don't do a lot of posting, but if y'all would ever like any DA-related graphic goodies just let me know :) I'd be happy to help.

NaNoWriMo 2011

Hello there, good people of Thedas!

My name is Bethany. I've been lurking here for the past few months or so off and on, enjoying the stories and waiting (a little impatiently) to post one of my own... once one actually happens. :P Hopefully that will be soon. This year I'm doing a NaNoWriMo based on Dragon Age: Origins, my second year attempting and hopefully my first year winning.

Just wondering if anyone else here is participating in NaNoWriMo this year, and if so, is anybody doing theirs on Dragon Age?

A quick hello

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the group (and Dreamwidth, for that matter - to be more accurate, i'm on Dreamwidth BECAUSE of peopleofthedas), and I thought I'd say hello before I started commenting and posting. For starters, my name is Nicole ;) I'm a final year law student who spends entirely too much time reading and writing, and blames DAO for her dismal grades last year but is well aware that nothing will change this year either.

I've been reading DA fanfiction for about a year now, mainly lurking on fanfiction.net although I've occasionally gone elsewhere. I prefer DAO as a game to DA2, but I do own DA2 and have managed to finishne Act I. That said, from fanfic I've worked out what happens in the rest of DA2 even if I haven't managed to actually sit down and finish it. Previously, I've flitted between a bunch of different fandoms, but predominantly hung around in Harry Potter (like a lot of people, apparently). For the past four months or so I've been working on an epically long Dragon Age Origins f!Cousland fanfiction (my outline says 50+ chapters without Awakening) which I'll start posting here shortly, and there are a few plotbunnies floating around in my head (Wynne/Irving, with a touch of Greagoir, anyone? Or a not-so-quick glimpse into Eleanor Cousland's head?).

In terms of characters, err...how do I pick? I fell in love with Alistair to start with (to the point my brother asks me how 'Alistair' is every time we meet up - it's embarassing) and I still think he's really cute, but I've since fallen hard for Zevran and Loghain. Much more fun (for me) to deal with the dark and twisty people. (Oh god, I think I just gave away that I've seen a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy.) In terms of origins, I predictably like the Human Noble and the Mage origins.

Uh, I think that's it. For the moment anyway.

Oh snap, another newbie?!

I figured I should say hi, since I made an account to delurk and comment on Elysium specifically, but also love lurking here.

I never played DAO - my daughter was born just before it came out, and I didn't even find out it existed until about a year ago (and yet I didn't buy it. WTF, me - you love BioWare games). A friend showed me video clips of the Anders relationship scenes after DA2 came out, I convinced my husband to let me buy it, aaaaaaaaaaand now the rest is history.

I have an undying love for Fenris and Anders, and since someone challenged me to make an "Anders!Hawke," I'm having more fun on that playthrough (my fourth) than I probably should be. *points at icon*

I occasionally draw bad fanart and write poor fanfiction. You may or may not see them pop up here from time to time. :) I'm looking forward to de-lurking more thoroughly here.

darkrose's fault, I swear. Anyhow, pleased to have found what looks like a highly awesome community, and felt I should come wave at you. So... *wave*

So far, my stories are all over at fanfiction.net, or my website (which usually manages to run a few chapters ahead), but I will be posting them on my journal, and AO3 when I get around to it. Right after I get my coffee mug back from the Procrastination Fairy, most likely.

I write a lot of smut in so-called real life, so my fanfic tends to have more blood, guts and character interplay than kink... even the most perverted of us need downtime, right? Current projects include various City Elf-related whiffles - not least my massive, multi-volume Tabris epic, Feasting on Dreams - but, after delving into DA2, I can also see m!Hawke/Anders featuring heavily in my future. Along with substantially more kink. It was that party banter about 'electricity thing' that did it. Ah, well...

If it's of use to anyone, I'm also available as a beta reader/copy editor. I can spellchek and maek grammer werk and everyfink.

So... I'm a lurker and an occasional commenter, making a coming out :)
I live in Geneva, French part of CH - so if any one of you need help with Orlesian, feel free to send me a message, I'm as fluent as a non-native can get.

I finished DA2 yesterday. F!Hawke mage, Fenris fondler, firmly in the "both sides are crazy" corner, despite Orsino being MOSTLY a level-headed character. I have a confession. It's pretty sad and I don't know what it says about me, but...

I would also like to ask if there are any communities devoted to Dragon Age fic prompts? Or if any of you have some prompts you'd like to see at least given a schoolyard try? I will do anything except write Anders romance as a healthy relationship! Hah, sorry. Bit bitter still. I am trying to get back into the swing of writing and I loved this game so much that I've been kind of looking for excuses to obsess over it as much as I have been. But I am unfortunately bad at coming up with ideas for fan-type things.

Nice to meet ya!

Just wanted to say hello. It seems like there's a great deal of fun around here, so I thought I would join when a few interesting stories on FanFic pointed me this direction.

I have a few DAO and DA2 stories that I'm working on, but I never seem to get them quite finished. Hopefully hanging out here will inspire me to do so, and I'll work past my shyness and actually POST them.

Hi all! Hope you don't mind if I join your party. Some of the authors I follow at fanfiction are over here as well so I finally migrated over to take a look.

I've only taken the plunge into the writing world itself in the last year, much less the wonderful world of DA smut. I've written a few stories over at fanfiction but I'll probably not move them over here.

Hey everybody, I heard about ya'all over on FanFic (where I publish under the same pen name) from scarylady, who kindly sent me an invite code.

I've been a gamer for a long time, but DA is the first game that's ever inspired me to write fanfic. I've written a fair amount of original work, but DA is my first attempt at fanfic. So far, it's been a blast to write in Bioware's universe. (which I don't own, dang it)
I love digging into characters to find out what makes them tick. So, of course, I love backstory. Of which we get only tantalizing snippets in the game.

Favorite character, Zevran, hands down. I think he's easily the most complex, and for me, the most interesting.

I did have a question about the series tags. Is that something the mods set up? And how does that work? I've got a couple of series going on FanFic, which I'd also like to post here, as well.

Hey everyone!

I'm here thanks to

decantate 's poking and the irresistible allure of

twist_shimmy . I'm over at some of the comms on lj under the same name, but thought I'd introduce myself!

DA is the first (and, thus far, only) thing I've ever written fanfic for. I sat down and started writing and before I knew it I had 8k words of a story and a compelling need to confess to my husband. He's been a supportive (tolerant) beta for my long fic, Destiny of Souls. (I swear the writing gets better later on. XD) Decantate has been a beta for pretty much everything else, including my smut. I post everything to ff.net and can be found there as valiasedai (see how original I am with the naming? :D).

Anyways, thanks for letting me pimp! And constructive feedback is always helpful.
