This Is My Introduction Post

Hi. Um. I'm new.

I started playing Dragon Age: Origins about three weeks ago, tore through my first origin, became completely obsessed, and earlier this week started my second origin. Prior to this I've had basically zero experience with RPGs in this style, since the only video games I played were from The Sims series (no regrets, seriously). At this point I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep playing Origins, plus Awakening and eventually DAII. Although, uh, probably not five days a week for 4-5 hours at a time. :O

In between playing, I posted a bunch about the game here on my DW and here on my Tumblr. Since I have the benefit of thousands of people having already played the game before me and written all their thoughts, I'd be super interested in recs for meta of any kind, especially about the political structure of the game and the various moral dilemmas it introduces. There are so many posts in this comm I may never make it through them all.

Mods, if I tagged wrong or did anything else wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it.

Welcome to the obsession! :D I'm on my fourth time through and have played DA2 twice. Nothing has grabbed me quite like this game in a long time.

There is a lot of great meta out there, but most of it depends on knowledge of DA2 and is therefore spoilery. So I'm hesitant to post recs unless you don't mind spoilers.

Well I've been spoiled a bit for DAII and I was spoiled a bit for some of the plot twists of DAO, and that didn't damage my enjoyment in particular. The only thing is, most of the meta I've seen does deal primarily with DAII, because it's newer, and refers back to DAO for support. I'm more interested in things like the Orzammar succession crisis and the implications of each choice, for example.

TBH most of the meta I've seen is about romantic options, and that's not the main focus of the way I played. I guess I'm just asking what the platform is where people post meta, since Delicious hasn't yet been to helpful, and Tumblr is impossible to search properly. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

My advice is that entry tags are your friends. There's masses of good stuff on here, and if you search by tag you're more likely to find what you need.

Also, are you on pc game? If so, then do not overlook the joy of MODS. Lots and lots of luvverly mods can be found here: http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/

I do play on PC, but I don't really plan to mod. I'm only on my second playthrough and there is a lot in the vanilla game that I haven't explored yet. Especially if I can get the golem DLC installed properly.

Actually, mods are great fun and can add to the experience. Most of what I add are "art" mods when just improve the appearance of certain things (people, mostly) or add hairs/faces/colors to the character generator. When you've done as many playthroughs as I have, variety is a good thing. (15 completed and 7 in the works) What can I say. I like gaming. *grin*
