Hi! :) I don't know if introductions are standard practice so I won't make this JUST an intro, but I felt like I should at least greet the community. You all seem like you're very close already from your posts and comments. I admit I'm a little forum shy. I haven't been an active member of a fandom community since, god, years. It's been years. It makes me feel old thinking about it! Anyway, I'm sophisted , hello!  Here's to trying to revoke my lurker license!  Wow, I am unaccountably nervous to actually be posting here!  How sad! :P  Someone take the exclamation button away from me!

I finished DA2 yesterday.  F!Hawke mage, Fenris fondler, firmly in the "both sides are crazy" corner, despite Orsino being MOSTLY a level-headed character.  I have a confession.  It's pretty sad and I don't know what it says about me, but...

When I was doing Alone, I reloaded and gave him back to Danerius to see how that would have gone down and it made me feel so guilty I almost stopped playing for the night.  Even though I reloaded the right and proper save file as fast as I could.  I don't...think that's normal.  A video game character shouldn't make me feel like I kicked a puppy in real life. *laughs*

I would also like to ask if there are any communities devoted to Dragon Age fic prompts?  Or if any of you have some prompts you'd like to see at least given a schoolyard try?  I will do anything except write Anders romance as a healthy relationship!  Hah, sorry.  Bit bitter still.  I am trying to get back into the swing of writing and I loved this game so much that I've been kind of looking for excuses to obsess over it as much as I have been.  But I am unfortunately bad at coming up with ideas for fan-type things.

If the end ever finally gets here so I can stop feeling like it is all just going down in a huge righteous blaze of glory with me at the center powerless to stop it. Or, if you're feeling really brave, you could always put up what I'd call a kick-start request. One or two people have done so when they've been trying to get back into the swing of writing. Y'know the kind of thing: you ask for prompts for ficlets, and write short pieces in reply to each of the comments you get. We all love someone pampering us, so you'll probably get a good response ;)

The only other one I can suggest is http://community.livejournal.com/dao_challenge/ which does weekly prompt words.

I know, right? It's sometimes sad to be in a smallish fandom. You run out of reading material so quickly... Unfortunately, my primary interests are books and RPGs, neither of which get a lot of fanfiction. I think these games might have the largest following for something I've been interested in in years.

I don't know if you've played the other games or are starting the series with this one, but I felt so guilty about a major decision in Awakenings almost immediately thereafter that I played through and deliberately didn't save, so I could go back and "fix" my choice. I still haven't kept a save where I saved the one over the other.

I felt that way a lot in all of the DA games. It's hard!

I think that's part of what frustrates me so much about the final act of DA2. In Awakenings you can reinforce the walls and recruit soliders so Vigil's Keep can survive while you mess about in Amaranthine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to keep Meredith from buying Bertam's idol, or killing Anders before he takes out Elthina or keeping Orsino sane or in any way actually making a good decision.

Dear writers: I appreciate that you've found a way to make me emotionally invest in your worldbuilding, but I'd really like a way to win the game kaythanxbye. *sigh*

On the other hand, that's what fic is for, right? Telling the story of Bethany becoming First Enchanter and Cullen taking the Knight Commander's post and Viscount Hawke hosting a mandatory Sunday dinner so that we all learn to play nicely together, dammit.

Having played about twelve full runs of DA:O I still haven't done a Drunk!Alistair ending. I.just.can't.

But if you load that save data into DA2, apparently he's drunk in the Hanged Man until Teagan comes to collect him. I wouldn't know. I married him. I'm kinda intrigued by the idea of taking the "canon" ending of DAO where Alistair is a bachelor king, and having an unattached Hawke go back to Fereldan and woo him somehow.

Eh, I'd squarely set the Warden as a bastard in my head. He also refused the DR even though he was IN LOVE with Morrigan because she'd lied to him all along. He was pretty ruthless. He also never got an Awakening playthrough.

I couldn't do it again, to be honest. I did it once to see what it was like, and NEVER AGAIN.

I'm such a sucker for Alistair's puppy eyes that I've installed Equal Love in the middle of a playthrough to romance him with a male Warden.

Warden Alistair was my favorite version, but maybe because Bethany was with him. I swear, he and my Hawke shared a moment there on the street even though she was in lurve with Anders.

... there's one particular ending of DA2 that I know I will never do. And I never did the Drunk!Alistair ending... OR the redeemer ending. I only recently managed to marry the poor boy off to Anora. Even though with Awakenings I moved from the Alistair camp pretty darn quick for my snarky apostate, I still can't do bad things to the man. He was my first pixel love :D.
