fic offering - "Bereskarn Skein"
Title: Bereskarn Skein
Fandom/Pairings: Dragon Age: Origins; eventual Zevran/f!Surana
Rating: ESRB Rating of M for Mature
Summary: Zevran was pretty sure he saw where this headlong rush to end the Blight was going: very far downhill, very quickly. And that was before the Grey Warden who spared his life turned into a bear. Now the only thing he's sure of is that it's not going to end like all the other fairy stories.
Crit: I'm new to the fandom, and more importantly, new to writing these characters! I've tried to capture them as accurately as possible, but if you notice something out of place, do feel free to point it out.
Notes: I play fast and loose with canonical dialogue, the contents of various cinematics, the order of minor events, etc. Fic starts in medias res, because confusion is good for the brain.
Bereskarn Skein
one: ma emma lin, ma emma abelas
Chapter title translates roughly to 'you are my blood, you are my sorrow.'

Bereskarn Skein
two: is this the beginning or the ending of a dream?

In line with your Crit instruction, I do have one thing: is your Surana previously Dalish, or previously City Elf? There is a suggestion that she was City Elf, but she called Jowan lethallin, which only Dalish do, usually.
From one or two coda entries ingame, I've always been left with the impression that the City Elves have lost virtually all the elven language.
This is, ofc, merely my impression, I'm no expert on the elves. We do have one or two on here who are, though, so perhaps this comment will spark a more knowledgeable response. :o)

I was actually waiting for somebody to catch that this Surana uses Elvish, which a City Elf indeed would not. I do have a very specific backstory in mind for Sens Surana that I don't want to spoil, but suffice to say that her immediate family split from her clan when she was eight, and she was found by Templars very, very soon after that fiasco.

So, so glad for you to be here.
As for Sens having a funky background, :giggle: you ain't the only one who's doin' that card... but I know for a fact Lahar and Sens have nada in common on that background. Or, at least, I'm sure. Really I'm only guessing, but still.
The original Surana background is very blank slate, and easily manipulated, it is the skill that is required that will make or break it. And thus far? Oh you are massively awesome and I wubbles you for bringing your fic to us.

♥ I'm glad to be here, and thanks for reminding me that this place existed.
I'd really like to read your Lahar background! I love the Surana origin because it is such a blank slate, and I love how many different takes there are for it.

And blank slates, wit a little form are what make such wonderful character outlines that can then be warped and twisted and shaped and :squees:. They make the world go 'round.
