Squishy Mages Are Not Meant to be Alone

Whereupon my mage!Hawke tries to rivalmance Merrill, gets kicked out of her house, and then mauled to death on the streets of a nighttime Lowtown just trying to get home. And spoilers behind the cut.

(edit: and mods, please to tag? apparently I can't tag correctly.)

Okay, here's the more full explanation. I did the Mirror Image quest and totally didn't give Merril the arulin'holm. She calls my Hawke a shemlen and gives him the silent treatment. I empty out his party before I go to have him talk to Merrill at her house because it's weird when two other people just watch and even sometimes BUTT IN. Anders, Fenris, I'm SO looking at you two.

Anyway. There's an argument, and then another argument. My Hawke is trying to save her and she's all Not Having Any Of That. And so she tells Hawke to get out of her house. Partyless. Squishy mage. At night (even if you go in the daytime, it's night outside when she gives you the boot). Without having cleared out any of the bandit denizens of the area. The game actually does kick you out of the house. I tried to make a go of it (before I tried to go back into Merrill's house after a reload) but it didn't go very well. He tries to run, but just keeps spawning new groups while the old ones don't go away or GIVE UP.

I probably could've survived everything I'd really tried. Most likely would've used all my potions and would've taken an hour. But I didn't bother trying and went for the reload instead.

But, man, when Hawke died, I was all... wow. Merrill will be so guilt stricken. And probably loot the arulin'holm off of Hawke's dead body. Maybe.

HOLY MAKER ALL THE BAD GUYS!

Omg so jealous, even with the squishy mage. ;_; I wish my game ran that smoothly.

I actually play DAO on both the PC and the PS3. I found the game play different for both of them, and they each seem to have their strong and weak points. Of course, I LOVE the PC version for mods.

Poor Merrill. I don't know if she could stand anymore guilt. Thank goodness you have the option of LOAD GAME....

These games would have NO replay value for me if I didn't have those mods. I'm too lazy to fight mob after mob.
