Question about DA2 endings

Spoilers galore, right?

Anyway, I just finished my second play through and I'm not sure I have enough interest to do a third. I was hoping to end up the Viscount of Kirkwall, but my ending said something like:

The people begged Hawke to rule the city, but she left with Fenris.

I sided with the Templar's, killed Anders... ugh, that close up of his face as he dies was horrible....although I made them spare some mages and my sister. 

How do you end up Viscount of Kirkwall? I thought that was one of the possible endings.

Well, I think Hawke is going to leave regardless, because of the hook for a sequel at the end. I think the closest you ever get is the ending you described.

Yes, I believe that's it. I tried a few different options, even telling Aveline or Varric, whoever asked, that Moira the Mage was thinking of getting into politics. Even Alistair the Cocksure King of Ferelden thought she should do it, but...nada. :-(

Yeah the ending says something like

VARRIC: After that, the people practically begged him to take over the city.

CASSANDRA: But, he's not there now, is he?

I took this as having a Viscount's iron hat until the new shit hit the fan and I legged it with Fenris.

I guess I was hoping for a little more info like perhaps what sort of a ruler I was, what reforms I tried my hand at, how templars liked to lick my boots and so on. *sigh* Or perhaps how people took to me having Fenris being my consort...

Unfortunately not... unless there's DLC to address it.

Personally I was looking forward to living in the Viscount's Keep. That would be kinda awesome :D
