Hello!

Now that we've got a bunch of wonderful recruits and a beautiful theme and banner set (thanks to the indefatigable
twist_shimmy ), it's about time we started including all of you in the process.

This post is a chance for you to help us up the awesomeness quotient of this community. You're welcome to give us any sort of feedback or make any suggestions you want, but here are some questions I'm going to throw out here for now:

1) Shimmy and I create the tags you'll be able to use here. Are there other tags you'd like to see in addition to the ones we've already chosen?

2) Do you like polls?

Do you like polls?
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Hell no! I refuse to take part in this poll! ...Wait. I have no opinion on polls whatsoever. I just like to click on circles. Having five answers is numerically superior to four. Prime numbers FTW!

3) Do you have any ideas for a way to shorten our community name that don't make us look like deadbeats? It seems unlikely that "PoT" will make us simply look like gardening enthusiasts.

4) Do you have any interest in discussion posts? For example: "Who would win in a fight--Sir Laundry or Master Ignacio?" "What do you think of DA2's push to make the races more morphologically different?" (Thanks for the science, Shimmy)

5) Would providing FAQs on how to make icons and banners in Photoshop be helpful?

6) Once the community is large enough, do you think it would it be fun to have fanfiction prompts and challenges? (If enough artists are around, we could do these for fanart too).

7) Would you be interested in fic and art swaps?


Please feel free to let us know if you have any other comments/questions/suggestions about the community. This post is your best opportunity to do so, especially because it'll let us all discuss the issues together, so please take advantage of it :)

1) Can't ever go wrong with too many tags. I don't know what ones there are, as I haven't checked. So long as they cover most used NPCs, main party members, Origin surnames, gender(?), n/sfw, art, fiction... you get the jist.

2) I LIKE CLICKING ON CIRCLES!

3) I... yeah, I got nothing here. XD

4) Yes! Those are always fun and spawn insanely amusing drabbles.

5) I think so... because frankly I fail in that department.

6) YES! OH MAKER YES!

7) AGAIN. YES.

1) Tags? Where there is an Alistair tag, needs to be a Loghain tag. I kinda can't function without one *lol*

Oh dear, and something insanely important: the issue of the Disclaimer. Is it enough to have one for the whole site or is one needed for each and every fanwork?

Good point. I shall add a disclaimer to the info right now, and we will not require them for fanworks unless problems arise later. I think it's a little redundant to make a fan community and make the fans say it's fan work.

1) I think the tags here could be kickass, because you have the option of ordering them by type. For instance, over on my journal, my tags went like this:

char: Alistair, char: Zevran, char: Loghain, kink: bondage, kink: spanking

But then I discovered that when you go into your Customize Style --> Module there is an option to list your tags as "multilevel" so what displays in your sidebar is:

char
Alistair
Zevran
Loghain

kink
bondage
spanking

At any rate, I'm loving the tags here and I think the more the better, especially for fic and art, and especially if we don't intend to keep an external archive of stuff posted here.

2) Polls are fine by me.

3) I like "PoT".

4) Discussion posts are cool by me too.

5) You don't want me attempting visual art. For serious. Lives might be lost. But if others find such an FAQ helpful, go for it.

6) Prompts and challenges are cool, I like to participate if I'm not falling behind in my weekly chapter quota. I am pretty much completely unable to write anything short or drabbly to save my life, however. So if there's a time or word limit, I probably won't participate. But others very well may, so go for it.

7) Absolutely.

1) you seem to have created sfw rather than nsfw. If this means that we are taking nsfw as a given then that's all good, otherwise there might have been an error. All the major npc's need listing really, I guess. Also slash?

2) I'm ambivalent to polls. If you need our feedback on simple questions then it's an easy way, but I have to confess to finding 'fun' polls to be anything but.

3)yeah that's... rather unfortunate. dapeeps? (as in DA people) Not great, but about the best I can think of.

4) I'd love discussion posts. Any kind of discussion posts, as long as they stay civil and nonwanky ofc. One of the things I dislike about a lot of the LJ fan comms is that they don't encourage us to talk to each other.

1) sfw and nsfw are both tags. I will remove SFW to prevent any confusion for later posters. Thanks for pointing this out!

And there is definitely an AU tag, since Lenna and I are cowriting a massively AU fanfic which we plan to post here. You're in a good place. :D

Art/comics are perfectly acceptable entries for contests/swaps/prompts. (Anything that lets me see more of Bef!Anders is okay by me.)

Well, I noticed that you haven't included the m!aeducan tag in the PC section of the tags, which was weird when I posted my little old story here, whose protagonist is the DNM.

You fellows can remedy this unfortunate oversight, no?

The only PC tags I see with m are m!surana, m!amell, m!cousland, m!brosca and m!mahariel (I jsut clicked edit tags on one of my older posts here).

Hmm. In our tags list it says:

So maybe it's only showing you the ones that have posts using those tags already for some reason? But I'm able to add the m!aeducan tag to my posts if I edit them.

I'm going to e-mail this info to Shimmy since she knows more about these kinds of things. In the meantime, you could play around a bit if you want and see if you can do it. Let me know if you can, but if not we'll get back to you about it as soon as possible.

The tag is there, but since it has a use count of zero non-mods can't see it.

I shall tag this post with m!aeducan temporarily and that will allow you to tag yours. Afterward, it will always show up and Aeducans will get all the love they deserve. :D
