Jowan fans?

Anyways... there is a mod that allows you to recruit him in Redcliffe (like the original plan had been).
He's got a personal quest, unique gifts, can teach you blood magic, and he's romanceabe by female characters.

I'm not the modder, but I am rewriting/massively expanding on all his dialogue for her. There aren't many conversations at all now, and what is there often has only one player response. I've rewritten all that's there (she hasn't uploaded it, though), and I'm currently working on the personality-change options for after his personal quest, like you can do with Leliana and Alistair (IE: guilt is hot.  keep on with that.  VS Dude, time to man up and be a badass blood mage)

So, I was wondering if my fellow Jowan fans (who I refuse to believe don't exist!) have any thoughts as to what they would want to have, discussion wise, in such a mod.  I've got quite a few ideas I'm working on now, but I am a total whore for an audience, so I'll gladly write to please others.  (hey, at least I'm honest).

Also, if this mod speaks to you and you are the sort who can do cutscenes and whatnot, I know she needs help with that as well.

Awesome post is awesome.

I am not a fan of Jowan, (It's entirely his voice. I'm sorry amhran_comhrac, but if I were trapped in a tower with that voice actor I would jump) but I have to say, I am SO glad we've got modders and mod-helpers chatting on the comm.

That being said, I loved playing him in the Fade. So!
1) What happened with/to Lily (Sure this is covered) Would love the "I had a crush on Jowan for years and he totally ignored me so now I am going to be catty" option.
2) Whether or not blood magic is actually evil. As has been pointed out, the magic behind phylactery use IS blood magic, after all.
3) How Jowan feels about the Chantry.
4) What life was like in the Circle Tower. You never get to talk about this in-depth with the Circle mages and I'd love that to change.

Seconding, #1 for real. I'm sorry, but Lily was far from be banging...and kind of a snot...

Also, rocking the Hamlet party line ("[F]or there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. ")has always been my standard approach to blood magic. Seeing Jowan react to that would be interesting.

I'd like to know more about how he learned blood magic too...a book, someone taught him, that sort of thing.

Yeah, I am not in the Lily fan club. And I always get the impression she doesn't particularly like mages or magic, either. Which is kind of wtf.

I'm of the same mind as you on the blood magic thing, I think I'm going to have a similar sort of option built into the personality-change conversation.
Do you think the convo about how he learned blood magic should be available to anyone, or just the mage PC? I set it like that now, with an additional chain where he'll talk about it after the broken circle quest is over if you ask his opinion on that (well, might, depending on how the quest ended).

I wish I could find any reasonable way to work in an anders reference. I think I have about ten of them in the first half dozen chapters of my Zevran/Amell paired story. I am all about the references to Anders. Hm... maybe tie it into the fourth suggestion above. he an tell a story about the guy who kept escaping... Hm, there's a thought.

Too right, Lily is very much in the mindset of, "Hi, I hate everything you are. Wanna hold hands?"

I would think he would only talk to a mage PC outright about the issue. Giving other origins access to it would only be likely after the Broken Circle like you said, but to a lesser extent than the mages. It's sort of a "we're in the same boat, so I'll open up to you" issue.

Maybe some sort of trigger should be set if the PC is a blood mage too. A discussion on comparing their reasons for learning the skill set.

Maybe if either he or the PC says something about wanting to leave the tower, you could work in how someone had tried to escape repeatedly, but they both know how well that worked out. Then segue into a story.

The quest is actually go to to Aeonar, so Lily is definitely addressed. The catty option is a good idea, though. Right now I have the responses basically lined up as as interested/never interested-nice/never interested-jerkass/too late now. Catty is always fun, though.

I put in a lot of 2, since it's something I'm interested in as well. There are, I think, two conversations where it will come up, and both give you a neutral response, a positive response, a negative one and a really brutal negative one.

3 and 4 are awesome. I could add stories, like the ones Zevran tells about his past assignments.

My f!Surana actually kind of had the hots for Jowan, but he was all like "What? No, I like this blando Chantry girl here," so Philomene wrote him off as a loss, and since then NONE of my girls have liked him. LOL.

Hope this isn't too old for me to be responding... I absolutely love Jowan and if you could tell me what mod this is, I'm going to go and get it in a heartbeat lol. I found a link somewhere else, but it didn't work.
