Looks like BioWare is announcing SOMETHING for Dragon Age this month, and tumblr is cracking down on a lot of tags leaving fandom in a bit of a whirl.

Time to dust this place off, maybe?

I'd definitely be willing. I've had a good time in DA fandom on DW and LJ. A lot of people are also talking about Pillowfort.io (threaded comments and communities but a Tumblr style), but I've always been sad DW never got the same kind of uptake as LJ or Tumblr and would be happy to do fandom over here.

I think it's because, honestly, the journal model is a bit dated at this point. I really like tumblr's ... style? I dunno, I liked the tag system, when it worked, but I also just liked the rolling forever dashboards. Better writers than I have nailed down the feel of Tumblr and it's uniqueness so I can't really give a good example here, but I'm hoping that this pillowfort.io pans out. It's not promising that they're still down after being down for a week or so, but from what I can glean, they've had some security audit issues?

Unsure. Either way, I hope tumblr will revise their thinking, possibly pull their heads out of their asses, and we can all move on. But to where... is a great question.

The biggest problem I see is that with the BioWare fandoms, Mass Effect and Dragon Age especially, being in a bit of a lull content wise... reorganization is going to be scattered for a bit. We don't have the BSN anymore, we might not have tumblr, so what's next? Twitter? I doubt it, the character limit alone feels too limiting.

Yeah, agreed. There's a lot I love about DW, but it's also deeply unintuitive, and it's much harder to find people and common interests. It all worked on comms, and a lot of those are graveyards right now. I'm definitely not someone who can work with Twitter, and it'd make fandom basically unsustainable for me in a lot of ways.

I'm hopeful about Pillowfort, but also slightly worried that they still aren't out of beta and that they're broken again. Hmm. I've got an invite code and will see how it pans out.

I'm definitely up for some dusting! Feeling very much like jumping ship from tumblr, I don't trust them to manage their purge well at all. (As evidenced by wild deleting of blogs and flagging of perfectly safe content. Fuckers.)

But I've completely missed any rumors about Dragon Age. Where?

Can't get the Blog on BioWare's website to load atm, but Hudson made this comment, plus with the Game Awards coming up, I feel like while BioWare's gonna focus on Anthem... it sounds like we're getting a Dragon Age shaped bone!
