DA3... again. Now, with a potential basis in reality!

The Escapist has some details up on DA3.  Someone on the forums apparently took a survey about the game, and spilled the beans.  Now... while it is still in the "unconfirmed" stage of the game, there's even concept art he's flashing around.  Which makes me think it might have some grounding in fact.

So... who do we think these friendly looking folks are?  I think the lady might be Cassandra, going by her general "I feel nothing but contempt for you" face.  Is that Chantry armor?  Not sure.  Guy on the left... could that be a Warden insignia on that metal emblem?  I honestly can't tell... I need new glasses.


STEN!  Well, it may not be Sten.  But I am pretty sure it is Sten.

Oh man... that Sten is just gorgeous. *faints* Actually, the two characters above are really lovely looking too. I know it's just concept art, still...

They're supposedly using a new engine (Frostbite 2), so I am hoping there will be a big visual leap. (and according to that always-reliable wikipedia, the engine developers haven't ruled out the potential of releasing mod tools, which would be stellar).

My vote is that that's an aged warden and champion (looks like warden and champion armor to me).

Possibly Warden/Cousland/Consort armor and Seeker armor, because that's not super Champion-y. Definitely fits more with Cassandra's stuff.

Looks like someone underwent some serious reeducation in Par Vollen. That's not Sten armor, I'm pretty sure he's been promoted.

Well a sten can become arishok, and wouldn't actually require re-education. Seeing that re-education was for those who failed in the Qun. Since our Sten would have done his duty and returned with Asala, given his report etc, of the current arishok died, it would be quite feasible for Sten to rise to become Arishok.

I was thinking more of the sort of company he keeps during the Blight. Surely if he gave a full report, his superiors know that he spent a year consorting with unbound mages, heretics etc. This is even more pronounced if he had a close relationship with the Warden, although I suppose that would require the comic to address the "canon" Warden, which is highly unlikely.

Even then, he did keep himself fairly separate, and considering that his opinion of mages was pretty much exactly the same as when he arrived, the necessity for reeducation would be pretty minimal. He probably would have had some tests and been observed in his 'usual' Beresaad environment - to see if he slipped up and tried to spread any unenlightened views. Popping him into a reeducation center from the outset would actually be more likely to backfire than observation would.

The first dude looks either like a gray warden or an orlesian, may be an orlesian gray warden?

Second one looks like Cassandra.

And the third one is totally Sten. Not many Quinari a re born hornless... Seems like he got a promotion in the last 10 or so years O.o

While I'm not expecting them to not bork DA3, the art does look nice. So, I'm keeping my expectations extremely low. That way, I may actually wind up pleasantly surprised.
