...For all your thoughtful replies to my request for info on DAII. I was very pleased to see so many positive replies which still acknowledged the fact that DAO and DAII are completely different games. I thought perhaps that would be the tack I'd need to take.

Bioware also just said that there will not be a DA2 collector's edition or any other sort of rerelease that includes the DLC, so that is one more reason not to wait. So, if holding out for that was part of your hesitation, you can cross it off the list, too.

What amhran said, and yes, keep an open mind, and enjoy DA2 as it is: a character-driven game that may be somewhat thin on plot epicness, but more than makes up for it with all the screen time the companions get, as well as the focus on the Champion's personal relationships, instead of how s/he changes the world.
