Chapter Four: Circles of Compassion
*~*~*~*~*

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." – Albert Einstein

When they arrive at the Tower, the Knight-Commander recognizes the Warden. She covered her ears and hides behind Sten. "Dulsanaya! Where have you been?" As the Templar moved towards her, Sten and the Dog growl; he looks up at the giant in his way and takes a step back, startled.

The Weakling, turning his shield to a Templar approaching from the side, asked, "Her name is Dulsanaya? She's a mage from the tower?"

The Knight-Commander sighed. "Yes, she's mage from the Tower. She vanished a few months ago during an incident. Where did you find her?"

"We didn't find her, Duncan of the Grey Wardens did. Your Dulsanaya is a Grey Warden," answered the Weakling, inferring that she is no longer a Mage of the Tower. Out of the corner of his eye, Sten saw the Warden pat the Weakling on the shoulder.

"Very well, men." The Knight-Commander addressing the Templers who encircled the group, "Return to your posts."

As the Templers withdrew, Sten and the Weakling lower their weapons. The Warden gently pushes between them to greet Knight-Commander.

"Dulsanaya of the Grey Wardens," acknowledges the Knight-Commander. She smiled, reaching up to touch his cheek. Tension easing, he says softly "I have missed you, Child. Irving was distraught when you disappeared." She alleviates his headache. "Maker, I am glad you are here."

While the Warden and the Dog bartered with the Quartermaster, the Weakling questioned the Knight-Commander in hushed tones. Sten stood with his back to the men listening, while guarding her.

"Tell me about her," asked the Weakling, quietly.

"Dulsanaya hasn't been with us long, maybe two years? Cullen had been to the inn to deliver and pick up messages from Denerim. He said he spotted something strange along the shore and was going over to check it out when he slipped and took a rather nasty fall. He said that he woke up to a Dalish healing his head where he had struck it on a rock. Said it was a large lump. After she healed his head she then cared for his twisted ankle. He said that he did not see any other elves about so he brought her to the Tower."

Continuing, the Knight-Commander’s gaze went distant in recollection, "I remember it odd that he said something her being a little spitfire, but she seemed quiet enough. I assumed it was because she had been recently separated from her clan.” Knight-Commander shrugged eloquently. “She passed her Harrowing in a very short time – I have never heard of a mage advancing so far, so fast. Irving said that she was a natural healer and said he wished to send her with Duncan when he arrived. He wanted her to assist Wynne at Ostagar. Unfortunately, while we had a little incident with a blood mage, Dulsanaya disappeared. Duncan never came either; looks like he found her for us though."

"Found her for the Wardens, you mean," the Weakling corrected.

Behind him, Sten heard Knight-Commander's armor shrug, clattering heavily with the motion.
