Your song link is a 'windows explorer cannot connect' page.

Nice corset.

Historically, almost EVERY woman would have had a corset then. The Civil War coincides with when they were just begining to be mass produced, and some manufacturers were experimenting with early steel bones and front busks which made them much cheaper and easier to get in and out of without help.
In many ways not owning one would be like someone today not owning a bra. It wouldn't be a social status issue, it would be a deliberate statement about the garment itself (or maybe because someone had a job that made it impossible to wear, like working in a field, etc).

Sorry, I make corsets and I'm kind of obsessed with historical corsetry.

Poor Anders looks so angry in the last panel.

Oh no, I thought you were saying they were expensive/rare and she wouldn't have one because of that. And I was agreeing that yes, anyone who had spent any time living in a city or whatever might pass for society would have a corset since they were wicked common at that point and starting to become very cheap.

(and the idea of riding a horse in a corset... ouch. I know it was done, there were actually specially made corsets just for that cut higher on the hip. But... I wear them more than probably 99% of the population now and still makes me wince to think of it.)

And now you've lost your cut. The whole thing is on the front page.
