I thought I'd share this little anecdote with you guys for the lulz:

In-game Caerwyn has shut Lel down. I have no idea what he did, but that little fuck no longer has the option to romance Leliana. I am given to understand that Shimmy has never done this before, and in fact often has the opposite problem, where Lel keeps falling in love with her PCs!

This is so typical of Caerwyn. Now Shimmy is going to have to help me mod the fscking game so Caer can romance Lel.

What have I wrought?!

I had that happen to my m!Cousland. She was still tralaleleleLeliana, but the girl would give him no play romance-wise. I had to go back a save or two, just for her. -sigh- Women are complicated, n'est–ce pas?

The thing is, the only way to get the dialog tree I needed was to go all the way back to when Caer first met her! Creators' sake, Caer!

Ah... the joy of fickle romance options. One gets ninja romanced, the other gets ninja dumped.

There's a bug with Leliana's dialogue. If you get her approval up too high before the romance is active it'll never activate. You won't be able to trigger her personal quest, either.

Yep! Got the personal quest, but no love. We will be fixing this with a mod, or else!

I'm just flabbergasted at how that dialog tree was gone all the way back until he first met her XD

Do you have Dialogue tweaks and Zevran Dialogue Fix installed? Between the two of them they fix Leliana's dialogue.

You can also just use the console to set the relationship flag for her, though.

Okay, the console would be easier than what I was gonna do. Do you have a guide handy to link, or is it simple enough that you can tell me here?

Worse comes to worse, you can get the meta-game items mod, which includes Love Potion #9. When used on a party member, it turns on the romance, even if it was off before.

OR you can use console commands.

It happens (to me, at least) when you give her too much stuff without asking about her feelings. I just used the feast day stuff to fix it.

I have never spoken with someone who HAS feast day stuff! What's it like? What can it do?

I love the gifts and pranks to alter the party's approval, either up or down. Like, give Sten the Butterfly Sword and approval drops, -50, but give Alistair a Grey Warden puppet and he flips out happy,+50. And then the dialogues will trigger when you get the approval high enough, just not all the actions can take place if they are quest dependent. Like you can sleep with Zevran quicker this way, but not get the rose from Alistair, even through approval is through the roof, b/c you have to see Goldanna first, or get on Morrigan's good side quickly by giving her the Alistair (Voodoo) Doll. They're really fun to mess with, IMHO.

And Sten with the Butterfly Sword is completely awesome. He is a Tower of Disapproval, while sparkly butterflies flit around behind his head.

it includes one funny item to drop characters approval by 50pts (the uncrushable pigeon for Shale) and one item to raise approval 50pts (the Alistair Voodoo Doll for Morrigan) which they can often use for bonuses. I actually liked the sparkly Rainbow butterflies so much I took it with me to Awakenings. It made the tomb downright cheerful.

More useful, however, is the way you can buy as many gifts as you want that give +/- 5 or 10pts to party members. This way, us poor console players can keep romance options viable by not triggering jealousy dialogue or take down Leliana's approval enough to reopen the romance dialogue options, then get it back up to what it was. It was also the first way I ever got to talk about most options with Oghren.
