I think he's an awesome, complex character. He reminds me a lot of Snape--not just because Alan Rickman would totally play him in the movie--with the "person who does all the wrong things for what he thinks are the right reasons" dynamic.

That said, I have a hard time buying him as a romantic protagonist, especially with a Cousland or a Tabris Warden.
