Weird thought of the day -- Dwarven society issues
So... the weird thing is, if you inherit your same-gender parent's caste, wouldn't these castes end up almost entirely of the same gender? I guess the exception would be if castes intermarry mostly within the same caste it would be all right. But if you had smiths always marrying warriors, it'd be a problem eventually.
I'm not a mathematical whiz but I could imagine you could analyze how soon a 51% female smith caste would become all female by plugging in some numbers for how often they marry out of caste versus within caste and making up some numbers about female/male birth rates and so on.
Anyway, just something fun to think about. :)
