Hi there, y'all!
I've been lurking around here for a few months now, and figured it was about time I introduce myself to you lovely folks.
In the middle of last year I got hooked on DAO during a fit of boredom, and like so many players promptly fell in love with Alistair and got sucked into my first fandom while looking around for more stories featuring him.
I've never written anything that wasn't technical writing or for a class, until quite recently. Folks seem to have a lot of fun playing with the characters, and the quality of storytelling is sometimes astounding to the point of being inspirational, so I've decided to take a stab at it. So far it's been a joy, and a surprise as I was never interested in creative writing all those long years in public school. I've yet to publish anything under my various internet monikers but have been filling prompts on the DA kink meme - probably not the wisest place to start, as the explicit scenes I'm trying to write are nerve-wracking, but there are some fascinating prompts I can't stay away from. At some point I would like to de-anon and clean up a few fills. For now, nothing is polished to the point where I'm comfortable with putting it to my name.
On that note, I would absolutely love critical feedback. If anyone has time to be an occasional beta (currently I have no plans for an epic fic, and really prefer to explore AUs in short bursts) and is interested in obtaining one in the form of yours truly, feel free to contact me =). The meaner you are, the better. I'm in the habit of ruthlessly picking apart journal publications and will happily dish out pain or take it.
When I'm not lost in thought about DA, I'm a materials science grad student whose love affair with speculative fiction started with The Hobbit and A Wrinkle in Time. I'm no medievalist, but the Internet Medieval Sourcebook can be as bad as TV Tropes for me; I love veracity and will squeal in delight if I can smell the shit and smoke in any historical setting.
Many thanks to the wonderful
scarylady for her kind suggestion to wander over here!
