The only HTML you need to know is:

where [ ] = <>

[em] [/em] = italics
[strong] [/strong] = bold

(These are HTML 4-tags. Unlike [i] and [b], they are screen-reader compliant.)

To hyperlink, it's [a href="URL"]link text[/a]

I haven't done anything more complicated than this since 1997.
