Jory acts like most would do when facing something they are not prepared to see. Of course, compared to Warden Sue he looks weak, but I appreciate the few glimpses of sanity and normal behaviour in DAO.
Jory still comes across, to me, like someone who's more interested in the personal glory than in doing the hard work that's required to be a Grey Warden. Daveth doesn't have any other options, granted, but he doesn't complain about it not being fair that he wasn't given full disclosure. It may be normal, but it's not impressive to the girl who's recently been kidnapped, had her fiance and friend murdered in front of her, and her cousin raped--on top of the dead mother and the daily microaggressions of being an oppressed minority. Or for that matter, to the girl who's entire family has just been slaughtered.
