Careful going to DeviantArt!

Recently I've had two rogue spyware/virus software downloaded to my computer when I went to a DeviantArt page - one was called ThinkPoint (which was a bitch to get rid of) and the other was Antivirus Suite 2010 - please be careful! Make sure your antispyware and antivirus software definitions are up to date! McAfee Antivirus Plus did not detect these two being installed, but Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was able to get rid of them.

I had that Antivirus one too!!! And it diabled Malware Bytes on me!!

I use Adblock now, a very nice plug-in for Firefox.

Plus I use Avast Antivirus that picks up so much more than my other program

AVG + Adblock = no trouble :)
And the free version of AVG is enough protection - at least I never had any trouble with it installed. Can't remember when I had my last virus, it's been ages. McAfee is all well and good, but it eats up resources like a Tribble. Had it on my netbook and decided to get AVG instead - netbook's been running much smoother ever since.
AVG was recommended to me by three of my computer-scientist friends; I love them so much, because I'm a irredeemable doofus when it comes to computers.

AVG has always been a personal choice but that changed since AVG2011. Its very bloated and the free version does not get everything. And it conflicted with my malware bytes.

I just read alot of people are going back to AVG 2009 until they fix it

add noscript and taco to the list of stuff you should have installed on firefox. noscript blocks all java that you do not authorize directly, making it impossible for websites to run pop-ups or download stuff onto your computer without your permission. if you need to run something, you can always select the permissions. i love it so, and have never had a virus since i added it. taco lets you opt out of targeted advertising completely. it's wonderful.

Malwarebytes is awesome, and actually, Microsoft Security Essentials is pretty damn good - it's what we put on computers at my office now.
