La reine est mort. Vive la reine!

There were a few casualties when my desktop exploded. Among them were Evelyn, Adhara, Reid, Faolan, Tesni, and Berkana my Epic Aeducan. But my computer runs faster and I don't have more partitions than a Titanic that actually wouldn't have sunk, so it was a trade, right? A blood-magicky trade, but. (Somewhere in my apartment the Tech!Caladrius is cackling merrily. And yes, I've had no coffee today, why do you ask?)

And don't worry. My screenshots are safe. :P

The problem is, while most of those games were completed ages ago, Tesni and Faolan refuse to stay dead. So what am I doing today? Why, reinstalling all my mods and rebuilding my morose Mahariel and insane Surana, naturally.

Which makes me wonder:

1) What would you do if you lost your saved characters?
2) Which ones would you be unable to part with?
3) Have you ever rebuilt and replayed a character you lost?
4) Which game should I complete to make "canon" for DA2? No, that one's just for me. Ignore. XD

::EDIT::

Tesni's back. *cackles madly*

OMG I made Neria in Awakenings so I could take screenies of her (considering she wasn't my warden in my stories) and then lost her and I WAS SO DEVASTATED.

I made her again, and better, but I was still upset. I never got her cheeks quite the way they were in those first screenshots.

I am in the process of replaying Miranda because I was never happy with her.

My canon game is my Alim Surana game. YES - THE MALE ONE. Because that leaves Anders unencumbered.

I suppose that answers the question of whether or now Alim is going to console himself over Zevran's disappearance with some Anders lubbin'.

1) Cry
2) Realize that I've just re-made Caerwyn two times
3) Consult you ten times while I re-make again
4) Prosper

I lost my very first character after reinstalling Windows. I was done playing her but it made me sad, so I remade her and am playing through again with the new version.
I also lost my second character at the same time who I hadn't finished with, but I didn't remake her completely. Just chose the same background and skill sets for the next character I made.

1) God, "Well, grrrrrrrrrrrr. Argh." a lot.
2) I keep making Kathil over and over again, so her. :) I would probably also remake Cainnec, my musclebound and surly City Elf, as he made all of the decisions that Kathil never made. Including using the werewolves to kill the Dalish elves, because he is bitter. Very, very bitter.
3) I replayed Kathil when I bought the game for the PC. That was my "canon" playthrough, right there.
4) I am predictable. My canon game is Kathil, probably because she is the character i most identify with. Which is possibly a little terrifying. :)

1) mid-way through my first playthrough, I had to reinstall my system and accidentally deleted my saves. I was not impressed. Alas, I never finished a game with my Dalish.

2) Definitely Riona. After this many months writing about her? Yeah. I'm going to burn one of her early savegame files (before they get so freakin' massive) to a DVD so I have a backup of it that I can't lose. And someday I'll finish getting my pregnant mod to work so that I have video to go with my screencaps of the shotgun wedding.

Also, my Amell that I made for Absolute Power. I may have to rethink the hair due to the fact that if you see a profile shot, it's actually floating above the surface of her body, but yeah, I lurve her.

3) Not one I've lost, but I have started over a couple times with Riona when I realized I wanted to do a few things differently at the beginning.

OMG I would remake Taniva and Philomene immediately. (In fact, since on my first playthrough of each of them I was TOO STUPID to keep an early save, I have two versions of each for replaying purposes.) My others are expendable - actually, since Xbox has a CAP on how many characters you can have at once (!) I have purposely deleted Genoeve, my first Cousland, and Shoshi, who was more or less Taniva done up as a member of the Insane Clown Posse. :P

The character limit on the console is SO aggravating. (There are legit technical restraints, i'm given to understand, but ARGH.)

My Mahariel, Surana, and Brosca fell prey to the character limit. :(

First of all, this is happened to me. I had my XBox's harddrive crap out and I died a little. I lost a big chunk of Maevelle and my F!Tabris Mab completely. Luckily, I had part of Maeve safely locked away on a memory card, so she got replayed and finished through Awakening.
I just started replaying her to get her on my XBox live connected account though.
She and Tambre Amell are my canon games for DA2 at the moment... although each time I play through, I'm going to use a different Origins warden.

If I lost my saves, I'd cry a bit, curse a lot, then restore what I could from the CDs where I've saved the games I've completed. I actually have multiple saves of various character depending on what DLCs I've completed and whether or not I've completed Awakening with them.

I've got 18 characters on my hard drive, and I refuse to part with a single one of them. Obsessive? Moi? Mais non! (which is about the extent of my French)

I've not yet lost a character, so I haven't had to rebuild one, but I very well might do so.

I don't really have a canon playthrough for myself. I've enjoyed all of them for varying reasons. The only real difference is who I've made king/queen (Anora a few times; Alistair mostly) and whether or not I did the US ending (once). Oh, I've burned Amaranthine twice and saved it four times.

Actually, I would definitely rebuild the two characters I based on my nieces and the one I'm about to build based on my great-nephew.

You know this already, Shimmy, but I remade Sabia because I didn't take as "insane" of a path as she would have.

She just recruited Loghain and fought a high dragon.... and drank some of its blood.

I'd prolly throttle something if I lost my babies.

Though I did delete a level 16 Dalish ranger because I thought I sucked at ranger seeing as we all died on the Carta boss. (name escapes me wtf)

Turns out I'd been smacking up Loghain on Sabia set to nightmare mode.

woops.

I did lose my saves. I had a bunch of XBox characters. Tu'atha Mahariel, Grainne Tabris, Saoirse Surana, Boudicca Cousland, Carlos Brosca, Benedict Amell, and the original Maebh Amell and Renaud Caron. Maebh was the only one I hadn't finished a playthrough with.

This eventually inspired me to get the Ultimate Edition for PC. So now I get things like this:

Pilar desperately looking for a way out of the Proving Grounds after she's been found out

Renaud's stunning profile and purple glowiness <3

Tu'atha eyeing up Tamlen (she told him not to touch that mirror!)

And finally...

Maebh's amazing jawline of +10 Mac Tiritude

And just think, if I hadn't lost all of my XBox games y'all would have just had to take my word for it when I said how beyoootiful and precious my Wardens were :D

*snorfle* I've never lost a savegame, and yet have rebuilt and completely replayed the game 4 (ish. Perhaps more. Does it count if I changed my mind and began again before killing the archdemon?) times with essentially the same character. Reading various fic and meta and stuff has changed my mind a LOT regarding where I wanted to take that particular char, so.....

At least there are other people in fandom who understand being a tad OCD in that respect :D

I have a habit of deleting and replaying characters. I've done Miravael three times, and I came very close to doing a fourth last night, because I just enjoy playing her so much. Also, I tend to make the same choices every time, so the only difference is playing different origins and classes.

Although I'm really, really over the goddamned Harrowing.

*nods vigorously* The Harrowing was the reason I installed Dalish mage mod. That, and being able to throw bigger spells than that snooty apprentice keeper with the weird purple lips. I can see how much it irritates her >:)

I love Faolan's smirk in the top pic.

1. I won't loose any chars (unless there's a fire or something), I have automatic backup on a separate disc thanks to the House Nerd, aka hubby. And if it did happen, I'd probably just make a different character and explore his/her story. I'm not very much attached to any of them.
In fact, I still kind of hate my first (Andorin Surana) for almost seducing Alistair, then abandon him for Zevran and finally betray him at the Landsmeet.

2. None. I could possibly redo my m!Cousland because he's interesting and veery pretty, and my f!Amell for her headstrong personality.

3. Not lost, but I redid Aedan when his looks didn't feel right after playing through the origin story. Very shallow. :-)

I make faces in the toolset and often have other copies of the morphs in various places, so if I lost stuff I'd still have their heads. At which point, I would make a newb RightGenderRightOrigin with their name, then toolset the head onto them, and then console up all their XP and major plot decisions, and then presumably profit.
